"I know you're clumsy, but don't break them." These were her father's dying words to Amy, and they haunted her like a witch's curse. Along with a small inheritance, he had left her three crystal glasses and the admonition that told her all she needed to know about his opinion of her - awkward, irresponsible, selfish, a disappointment, not like her mother at all. He never needed to say all the words to get his point across. She put the glasses in a cabinet and vowed to take care of them, but accidents happened, and now only one was left.
