About the Author Alanna is a Blackfoot, Dene multidisciplinary artist of the Tsuut'ina Nation & Siksika Nation in the Treaty 7 Territory of Canada. She has been writing poetry since she's been in grade 7, a teacher of hers inspired her to write her first poem and since then she hasn't stop writing. With life experience and learning lessons to help her as an individual, she writes for the next generation to come. She writes to empower the youth, the adults and the elders of indigenous background. She feels as if this is her purpose on earth to help with kind words of strength & encouragment. Alanna strongly believes that anyone can be an artist and that art is the way to healing. Writing has helped her get through trauma and stress, it has brought so much healing to her life and family. With that being said she encourages all who read this book to create so they can heal too!! About the Artist BB Iskwew is a Cree-Métis artist from Treaty 8 territory in northern Alberta, and has family ties in Sawridge Cree Nation and Bigstone Cree Nation. BB Iskwew symbolizes her Cree name, Baby woman, gifted from her kokum at birth with the intention of being a healer, as she whispered "you're going to be a great medicine woman who's going to help people heal." BB Iskwew uses art to share good medicine with the world; sharing messages of light, healing, and hope for a future that is more kind and loving between human beings and Mother Earth as a whole. Art gives us the opportunity to share our story and express it from our creative heart; we all have a story to share that can help uplift ourselves and others. BB Iskwew encourages younger generations to keep using their voice creatively and help heal the earth with their stories. For my artist name just use BB Iskwew, no need to include Kayla in there, thank you! Also, if possible at the end of my bio can you include (@bb.iskwew) so that people can find my art on instagram!
