Autorenporträt
I grew up in a rural community in a corner of the world where Kentucky and Virginia meet. So, I was never sure if I was a Kentucky girl or Virginia girl! Either way, I always loved to write stories! My stories were loosely based on my life as a poor girl, growing up in the "hollers" of Kentucky. I attended a one room school for grades first-eighth, then traveled on the bus across the state line to Virginia for the next four years of high school. Upon graduation, I got married, settled down in Virginia and quickly became the mother of two beautiful daughters. While I was happy being a wife and mother, I felt an emptiness! I needed more! I wanted to keep on learning! An opportunity fell into my lap. Operation Bootstrap (a federal program) brought college classes to my rural community and I decided to enroll in some classes. Immediately, I was hooked on learning! Over the next few years, I earned a master's degree in education and taught school for the next thirty (30) years before retiring. It is now that I have decided to try my hand at writing a children's book. I only wished that I had started years ago as I have missed out on many stories, happenings in my daughter's lives as well as my classroom kids! (Perhaps I can recall a few.)
