James Augustus St. John (1795-1875), was a British journalist, author and traveller. He worked as an editor in several newspapers and magazines. St. John traveled all across the European continent and made several trips to North Africa, travelling mostly on foot. The results of his journey were published in numerous travel sketches and memoirs.
