Toby is a Labrador puppy that has been left home for the day while his friend William goes to the city. With no one to play with, he discovers the gate has been left open and goes out onto the farm. He comes across a variety of creatures, none of whom wants to play, and then finds a dam full of water. In his rush for a drink, he jumps in and has an unexpected surprise. Now exhausted, he falls asleep and wakes in the dark, feeling very hungry. He realizes he is lost and howls for his friend to find him, but a one-eyed monster has heard him and is now chasing him. Will Toby be found in time? Will he get home safely?

I was born in New Zealand and, for the last fifteen years, have resided in Queensland, Australia. I have been married for over forty years, and my husband and I have three very sensible adult children and one grandchild. We lived in the suburbs for ten years, where I became a volunteer puppy carer for Seeing Eye Dogs Australia, and then moved on to a farm in the southwest of Queensland. The charm and antics of the puppies, ten of them in total, gave way to my desire to write, and they became my inspiration for "The Lonely Puppy." I recall many little incidences that gave many a chuckle and then tried to see it from the puppy's point of view. It is a pretty interesting and scary world out there, and it is nice to have someone to help you through it.
