The recollections of my grandmother Franziska are a historical record. Born into a Circus Family in 1902, Fanni later chronicled her adventurous experiences and her colourful and sometimes dramatic life. Fanni was a much celebrated circus artist who performed in the presence of the Emporer Franz Joseph. She played the role of a child in "Die Zirkusgräfin", one of Austria's first films. All the members of her extensive family were circus artists, actors or actresses. They travelled through the Austrian Crown Lands and the Bavarian territories. In those days, the travelling showpeople represented an important element of entertainment for the general public - as television and radio didn't yet exist.

Franziska living in Salzburg, made it her task to write about her grandmother's life. Not only with loving memorie also with discussing certain subjects with relatives, she wrote the book in honor and with love for Fanni, her grandmother. Franziska herself was a showmen and artist, now she is retaired. Her wish is that people don't forget about the past generations, and her grandmother and the horrible life conditions will be remembered.
