In January 18, 2022, my wife Martha had a very serious fall. Indeed, for a brief, terrible moment...I feared we could lose her. Fortunately, while she suffered considerable pain, and spent three months dealing with mobility problems, she recovered. Not as fast as she might have liked, but she did.

However, shortly after her injury, I began a series of social media posts about her recovery so that her friends would know what was happening. These became surprisingly popular, I suppose because we found that even when times were awful, we could discover a joke, or a reason to smile. And, too often in this life, people need a reason to smile.

So, at the suggestion of our friends, I've turned the postings into "The Martha Chronicles," a short book about her recovery. This is the book in question.

I hope you enjoy it. And, as an aside, I'm happy to report that now Martha is doing just fine. We returned the wheelchair to the rental place long ago, and the walker has been folded up and put away in the garage.

And, frankly, I'm hoping it stays there. Some things are just better when they're memories. And maybe distant memories at that.

Take care.

Autorenporträt
I am a former trade press editor in the field of computers (small claim to fame, I interviewed Stephen Jobs just after he was kicked out of Apple, and just before the company begged him to come back). I've done several hundred news articles for various publications. However, I've also written books and articles in other areas, notably history (for instance, And Then They Loved Him, a biography of Seward Collins, who was one of the lovers of Dorothy Parker, and later a self-described "fascist). Before blogs were trendy, I did an "e-zine," an email based publication, entitled "explosive-cargo," which had a readership of slightly over a thousand. Since then, I've turned it into a blog and you may see it here: http://explosive-cargo.blogspot.com/

Most recently, I have taken to producing personal videos and limited-action animation pieces. You may see my work here: https://vimeo.com/mjt1957
