These are not folded pages of personal diaries, nor are they an autobiography. Rather, they go beyond all of that in order to be a faithful expression of a long path that the author of the novel took, penetrating the eras of Abdel Nasser as an observer, and Sadat as a spectator and Mubarak as a participant. The author took refuge in honesty, impartiality, and objectivity, believing that the cunning of history is merciless. And that life in its entirety is ups and downs, victories and setbacks, achievements and failures. The writer's journey confirms that life is not a reality but it is also a way to do so. The author of the novel did not assume a character other than himself and did not claim for himself what he did not do. The author based his formulation of this trustworthy book on what he witnessed or heard. He did not allow himself to fabricate an incident, claim heroism, or be biased against others. Despite the huge crowd of information and narratives that filled this book, it was the summary of an experience whose author chose not to delve into the details and not get lost in the details, so it came as the reader sees it, expressing reality, being fair to the dead before the living. It is part of the memory of generations that have crossed the road in recent decades, looking up at the sky in awe of their homeland, their love for Egypt, and the belief that it is impervious to falling because it is the country that is always guarded.
