Autorenporträt
One of the most distinguished, incisive and original British historians at work today, Linda Colley has taught and written on both sides of the Atlantic. She is currently Shelby M. C. Davis 1958 Professor of History at Princeton University. A Fellow of the British Academy, her previous books include: 'In Defiance of Oligarchy: The Tory Party 1714-1760', 'Namier', 'Britons: Forging the Nation 1707-1837', which won the Wolfson Prize, and 'Captives: Britain, Empire and the World 1600-1850'. In addition, she writes regularly for the Guardian, the New York Review of Books, and The Nation, has served on the Board of the British Library, and has delivered lectures and seminars for Amnesty International, the British Council, the European Union, the Nehru Foundation, the US State Department, and 10 Downing Street.
