Rezensionen
'This is no high-society tale: [Parot] takes us into the dank cells of the Bastille, the reeking morgue of the Basse-Geôle, the boisterous brothels and taverns and stewpots and all the other places we really want to see' New York Times

'A fabulous eighteenth century French police procedural that brings to life pre-Revolutionary Paris' Genre Go Round

'Le Floch develops as a character nicely throughout the series' Crime Fiction Lover

Praise for Jean-François Parot

'The Chatelet Apprentice is a terrific debut... a novel that brilliantly evokes the casual brutality of life in eighteenth-century France' Sunday Times

'Reads like a cross between a Maigret mystery and Les Liaisons Dangereuses' Mail on Sunday

An engaging murder mystery that picks away at the delicate power balance between king, police and state' Financial Times
