"Don't even think about running!" the inspector bellowed. "One wrong move, and you'll be shot on the spot."
The guests gasped, their joyful faces turning into expressions of shock and fear. The Mondol Sahib stepped forward, his voice trembling.
"Inspector, what is his crime?"
The inspector's eyes narrowed. "Do you know who this man is? He is none other than the infamous gangster Raj from Dhaka. The very name of this man once sent shivers down the city's spine. People fled in terror upon hearing it. He escaped from Dhaka and hid in your village. We received a tip and came here to arrest him."
The revelation struck like a bolt of lightning. Palki clutched her heart, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"No! I refuse to believe it!" she cried out. "Raj is a good man! He could never be a criminal."
Raj sighed, his gaze heavy with sorrow. "The inspector speaks the truth. I was on the run, hiding from the police. I came to this village seeking refuge with a friend's relative, but I couldn't find him-his phone was off. By sheer fate, I met your father, and he took me in."
Tears welled up in Palki's eyes. "Is that why you didn't want to marry me?" she asked.
Raj nodded. "Yes. I always knew that someday, I would be caught. I didn't want to ruin your life. But when you and your family insisted, I had no choice but to go through with it. If only I had been arrested an hour earlier, I would have had no regrets. But now, after saying 'I do'..." He choked on his words, his voice breaking with emotion.
The inspector gestured to his officers. "Cuff him."
