If not, you need to practice being a good friend to yourself. The same kindness and empathy you share with others can also be shared with yourself. Practice using gentle words, understanding, and forgiveness with yourself - speak to yourself in the same calm way you'd use to speak to a friend going through a similar challenge.

Doing so is a great way to bring more optimism and positive thinking into your life, even when life is feeling especially difficult.
