The history of the press for each people represents an aspect of the life of that people in the era in which its press existed. The importance of this history is evident in the reality of the educational movement in the world that preceded us in this field, where its press existed. In America, for example, the subject of the history of journalism has been included in the curriculum of schools concerned with these affairs since the year 1869, while they began teaching the art of journalism at a later date, not later than the year 1908, when the first school of journalism was established in Colombia. The history of the Arab press depicts some aspects of the awakening and stages of advancement of the Arab world. This truth applies to every Arab country. The scope of this research book is limited to: the emergence of journalism in Iraq with the appearance of the first newspaper in its journalistic sense in 1869, after which it looks at the press of the Ottoman era. That is, before Iraq separated from Türkiye, and embraced the phase of the press created by the occupying British army, and the newspapers that were published under the British occupation government. The press of the Iraqi revolution in 1920. It reviews the state of the press since the founding of the modern Kingdom of Iraq in 1921, especially the newspapers of political parties. He covers freedom of the press in Mesopotamia with extensive research. The period he is talking about begins with the birth of journalism in Iraq and ends with the outbreak of World War II in 1939.
