I have always loved stories about princesses and animals. When I was 19 years old, I was hit by a drunk driver in Jacksonville, FL. It was a miracle that I survived. I was in a coma for over four months, and when I woke up, I was a quadriplegic. I had sustained a traumatic brain injury. The only parts of my body I can move are my right arm and fingers. The part of my brain that controls speech was severely damaged, but the part of my brain that controls intelligence was not affected at all. I can hear and understand anything spoken or read to me. I am also legally blind and mentally disabled with a condition called Borderline Personality Disorder. I have to have someone take care of me 24 hours a day. I can never be left alone. I live with my mother who helps take care of me. She also keeps up my website, www.jewelsrogers.net and my Facebook pages. Last year, I discovered that I have a hidden talent: creating storylines for children's books. Since I spend 18-20 hours per day flat on my back in bed, I have had time to think. While thinking, I decided I could tell my mom the storyline about a princess and a dolphin. She loved it so much she decided to type the story on her computer. Then, she had each page illustrated and sent it to a publisher. I have now finished creating all four books in my Princess Series: The Princess and the Dolphin, The Princess and the Puppy, The Princess and the Parakeet and The Princess and the Rabbit. In each book, the Princess' life is saved by the animal in the title. A rabbit and a parakeet keep me company in my bedroom; I really do have a Chihuahua puppy named Chico; my love for dolphins is represented in pictures, figurines and wall trim all around my bedroom. I am currently working on the next four books that will be in my Dog Series. Each dog overcomes a physical challenge by discovering a hidden talent. There are many more series of books going through my mind. I am a happy quad. One of the reasons I think I am so happy is because of my love for, and faith in, God and Jesus Christ. I know God saved me from that horrible crash, but I never knew WHY...until recently. His plan for my life is unfolding right before my eyes! The Lord seems to be preparing a way for me to become an author of children's books. I'm a very strong Christian and I'm a Mormon.
