In 2021 this good man went on a long journey reading the book of Proverbs. Little did I know that this journey would spark a creative spirit in me that would create my own proverbs and sayings. My first proverb I created which was birthed the morning of my auntie's funeral ironically was "The ego must rest if the soul shall find its place in the sun." This proverb comes from a place of a child born in the hustle and bussle of city living having to adjust to the new found elements he has found himself in. Within these 2 years I've come to grow fond of these saying. There's 1000 you's there's only 1 of me says the thumb to the fingers is one I created while observing the hand and trying to understand what its meant by the term "grasp". It's a reference from Kanye West's song that fitted perfectly with what I was experiencing at the time. Another one of my favorites is " In the game of hide and seek the best hiding places see the least amount of attention so its game is patience." This comes from me observing the children play hide and seek on the playground. It deals with perspective: There was this kid who had this hiding place that allowed him to see everything that was happening in the game. The only problem is his hiding place is so good he can't join in on the fun of running from his seekers which causes him to leave this place. I thought " If one could change their perspective one could change their reality. If I the kid start to enjoy this place laughing at those getting caught and those trying to find us I in return benefit greatly afterall it is the name of the game. But he's a kid." My full name is Jazma Seaberry. I go by the name Jaz to keep it simple for folks. I was born and raised in the Greater New Orleans primarily Kenner, La the east bank of the Greater New Orleans area throughout my childhood and Gretna, La the west bank of the Greater New Orleans area throughout my high school years. Writing is something I'm passionate about. I write music (mainly hip hop) and I do screen writing when I'm not working on my other passion which is fashion design.
