Autorenporträt
Max Heindel, born Carl Louis von Grasshoff in Aarhus, Denmark on July 23, 1865, was a Christian occultist, astrologer, and mystic, best known for his work in spreading the teachings of Rosicrucianism in the early 20th century. After emigrating to the United States, he became steeped in the esoteric philosophies that were proliferating at the time. Heindel's spiritual journey led him to Germany, where he claimed to have been taught by an Elder Brother of the Rosicrucian Order, a meeting that profoundly influenced his worldview and writings. In 1909, he founded The Rosicrucian Fellowship in Oceanside, California, an international group of mystics dedicated to the dissemination of what he called Western Wisdom Teachings. His seminal work, 'The Rosicrucian Mysteries: An Elementary Exposition of Their Secret Teachings', was published in 1911 and continues to be regarded as a cornerstone in Rosicrucian literature. In this book, Heindel laid out the foundational aspects of Rosicrucian philosophy, covering topics such as the constitution of the human being, spiritual evolution, and the cosmic meaning of life. Heindel's writings resonate with the intricate blend of Christian mysticism, astrology, theosophy, and science, characteristic of his unique approach to spiritual teaching. Max Heindel passed away on January 6, 1919, but his legacy persists through the continued work of The Rosicrucian Fellowship and the influence of his writings on Western esoteric traditions.
