He returns to Germany, but leaves again in 1936 for America. He returns to Australia in August 1938 as a seaman, but deserts ship in Adelaide. Travelling up to Sydney, he meets a lady, Glenn Martin's father's cousin, Ellen Royall, and they marry after a lightning romance, following which he gets an acting role in the film "Forty Thousand Horsemen". When the Second World War starts, Siegfried is arrested and put into an internment camp in Victoria. Ellen joins him. At this point she discovers that back in Germany, he was heir to the title Baron von Einsiedel. They spend the war in the camp. Despite the fact that people now know he is a Baron, he returns to being a seaman. With three children, they settle in Sydney.
