In her new work, The Search for Authenticity, we are taken on a more personal journey of circumstance, choice, and consequence, all of which can help us find our authentic selves. The photos in this book were all imaged through Caras pinhole camera, a camera she created during her time spent in art school. One special doll Cara shows in her work is one that was given to her as a child and that her mother has kept all this time. Cara intends to take the dolls on even more adventures to new and exciting places and hopes to share their future stories of enlightenment (that is if traveling around the country with dolls doesnt get her locked up first).

Cara has spent her years learning that how our life begins does not have to define our life's middle or end. Her challenge is knowing where to go and what and how to do whatever it takes to create her desirable, authentic life, especially when she's not sure what an authentic life looks or feels like. Cara believes surrounding one's self with positive individuals is a great start to living authentically. However, if positive people are not yet apparent, Cara believes a significant place we can turn to for encouragement is to their affirming written words. For Cara, two such positive people are Mahatma Gandhi and Clarissa P. Estes. Gandhi's messages of love, compassion, and higher consciousness truly inspire Cara. Clarissa's words, coming from an authentic woman in Women Who Run with the Wolves, deeply move Cara. Cara believes the earlier women start on the road to authenticity, the better!
