Autorenporträt
A large part of Rea Keech's career has been teaching international students in college, including at the University of Tehran (Peace Corps assignment), the University of South Carolina, Voorhees College, schools in Japan and Greece, and the community college in Maryland, where he now lives. He is a retired Professor of World Literature and Linguistics. Over the years Keech heard stories from students fleeing the war in Vietnam, the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the violence in Central America. Some were heartbreaking. When he retired, he began writing full time. The three novels of the Shady Park Chronicles are set in the America to which many of the refugees the author has known have fled. First World Problems, Shady Park Panic, and Shady Park Secrets contrast-with some humor-the xenophobic "America First" instincts in the United States with the life-or-death struggles of those who have seen what real problems are.
