"The Sorrows of Satan" is a work by the English writer M. Corelli (1855 - 1924). The mysterious novel was for the first time published in 1895. It centers around a talented, but living in want and trudging along writer Geoffrey Tempest. He secretly "awards" Tempest with an overwhelming sum of money, which is said to be passed down to him from an unknown relative, who was a millionaire.
