This volume critically examines the common claim that the global crisis has spawned a return of the state after the apparent failure of neoliberal global capitalism. On the basis of a number of theoretically informed as well as empirically rich case studies ranging from Europe and the US to the rising 'BRIC' powers - the book shows that we rather witness a rearticulation of state-capital relations that for now is conducive to deepening marketization.
