The Stone of the Oath is a historical novel about war, religion, love, revenge and oaths. It is also a declaration of love from the daughter (translator of the novel into German) to her father, who always fought for the freedom of his country. This novel was translated from Albanian into German in his honor. It is a monument to the suffering of thousands of Albanians since the Middle Ages; the struggle for existence and the fight for independence are told from the Albanian perspective. The Eidstein as a place name always plays an important role, as not only great decisions are made there, but also a great hero of Albanian history, Mirosh Danai, finds his final resting place there.

Autorenporträt

Ahmet Qeriqi wurde 1946 in Drenica-Kosovo geboren und schloss sein Studium der albanischen Sprache und Literatur an der Universität Pristina ab. Von November 1998 bis Juni 1999 war und  er ist immer noch Direktor von Radio-Kosova e Lirë, das Sendungen während des Kosovo-Krieges sendete. Er ist verheiratet und hat vier Töchter und zwei Söhne. Die Erfahrungen unter dem jugoslawischen Regime und der nationalen Unterdrückung der Albaner sowie die dreimalige Inhaftierung prägten sein literarisches Schaffen.  Qeriqi hat mehrere journalistische und literarische Werke veröffentlicht, darunter Übersetzungen der Romane ¿Weiße Rose¿, ¿Der Löwe von Janinä von Jokai Mor sowie der historischen Romane ¿Die Zeit der Janitschären¿, ¿Der Stein des Eides¿ und 14 weitere. Er übersetzt  aus dem Serbokroatischen, Italienischen, Ungarischen und anderen Sprachen. Er lebt und arbeitet in Pristina.
