Even after joining N. W. Ayer and Son, where he was an advertising writer and executive for 20 years, he continued to write magazine articles and television and movie screenplays. He was working on two novels when he passed.Brown's favorite work was his biography of a Confederate officer, Stringfellow of the Fourth, published in 1960. He also wrote a history of the US Coast Guard.
