In the city of Detroit, during what many refer to as the era of the crack epidemic during the early 1980s, where the beautiful sounds of music no longer danced around Motown and the fancy cars no longer ran this city's motor, a royal entity was produced. Melanie, also known as GODmadeQueen, was born. Not to what many would view as a normal life but far more abnormal. She was taken away from her birth parents at three months old and placed in an orphanage until she was finally adopted. That's when her life of tragedies began. Not having anyone to trust, she turned to writing. She believes this is her gift not only to others but also a therapeutic gift to herself. "As a child, I began to write. I didn't recognize what it was, considering so many ignored me. But in kindergarten, my teacher told me, 'Melanie, this is beautiful poetry.' Since then, my best friend was a pen, my homegirl was a book, and I gave them beautiful sceneries and catchy hooks. I realized it's a gift. I am a writer, in addition to being a poet. "Writing has always been my passion. Being an inspirational author has always been my dream. I entered the Detroit Public Schools' creative writing contest and won first place for seven consecutive years, beginning in first grade. I also won first place in the women's writing contest while attending Detroit Job Corps. I love creating inspirational, educational, page-turning, and entertaining novels such as The Strangest Love, expanding from bits and pieces of my own personal experiences to inspire generations.
