Alan Alexander Milne, (18 January 1882 - 31 January 1956) was an eng author, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various children's poems. "The Sunny Side" is a collection of short stories and essays by A. A. Milne. Though Milne is best known for his classic children's books, he also wrote extensively for adults, most notably in Punch, to which he was a contributor and later Assistant Editor. Alan Alexander Milne was an English author best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for children's poetry. Milne was primarily a dramatist before the enormous popularity of Winnie-the-Pooh eclipsed all of his earlier work. Milne fought in both World Wars, as a lieutenant in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in WWI and a captain in the Home Guard in WWII. Alan Alexander Milne was born in Kilburn, London, on January 18, 1882, to Jamaican-born John Vine Milne and Sarah Marie Milne. He was raised at Henley House School, 6/7 Mortimer Road (now Crescent), Kilburn, a small independent school owned by his father. H. G. Wells was one of his teachers from 1889 to 1890. Milne attended Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he received a mathematics scholarship and graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics in 1903. He edited and wrote for Granta, a student publication. He cooperated with his brother Kenneth on articles that appeared under the letters AKM.
