Imperial Russia and Europe, second half of the 19th century. Baron de Angerrand, an acquaintance of La Charité, falls in love with Maria and wastes money uncontrollably. La Charité directs the faithful man to Calais, where the Trans European Company is destined to be 'born'. Then a clever adventurer orders a journalist to write an article about the fantastic benefits of investing in shares of a Trans-European company. In Poland, and then in Russia, where shares are sold by Vladimir Sazonov, an unheard of excitement begins.
Prince Rokotov, being in Russia, ends up in a debt prison, thanks to the intrigue of the Viscount, who decided to eliminate the prince in order to completely control Maria. But 'Bonaparte's granddaughter' rescues her former lover, sends him the necessary sum of money, and then leaves with the Baron de Angerrand to France.
Varvara, as a courier, transports the company's shares from Romania (where they are printed) to Russia. Prince Rokotov decides to take revenge on the Viscount. He deftly intercepts Varvara on the way from Romania. He returns to Moscow and, through blackmail, receives a large sum of money from Vladimir Sazonov, then goes to France in search of his beloved.
Vladimir Sazonov understands that the Trans European Company is a Viscount's gamble, he is trying to leave Russia with Varvara and hide abroad. La Charité decides to escape and live a quiet life. He has a passport for another name ready. The Viscount publishes an article in the Polish press in which he accuses Prince Rokotov and Maria Schaeffer of organizing an alleged Trans European Company. Prince Rokotov and Maria Schaeffer miraculously avoid arrest. But Vladimir and Varvara do not manage to get away from the police.
