Once again, Shakespeare explores the arena of love, delighting audiences throughout the centuries. The play begins in an unusual and remarkable way; the main story is offered as a play within a play. We see a drunk commoner, Sly, being tricked by a wealthy lord into thinking he is a lord. Sly begins to believe the trick that has been played on him, and settles down to watch a play, "The Taming of the Shrew". This seemingly random introduction has nothing to do with the actual plot of the play.
