Welcome to the poetic world of Yashvi Lodha, a budding feminist and eighth grader at Hill Spring International School. Yashvi has a strong inclination for the Liberal Arts. Among her many creative interests and pursuits, Yashvi is proficient at the piano and an elegant ballet dancer. From an early age Yashvi has been involved with giving back to society and fosters a strong affinity towards serving her country in every capacity that she can. Yashvi's Academic Institution has recognised and acknowledged her consistent creativity, purposeful action, and constant service. The Honourable Governor of Maharashtra on two separate occasions, has awarded Yashvi for her many social contributions and dedicated work towards the community. Poetry for Yashvi is her way of understanding the world around her, with both its strangeness and beauty. Every time this young poet experiences life, whether it be confusion, laughter, or just another thing that brightens her day, all these morph into verse and lyric. The origins of Yashvi's poetry are genuinely heartfelt and brim with organic authenticity.
Yashvi admires the classic Shakespeare and the contemporary Holly Black. Writing this book of poetry created many midnight memories. It is an ode to her peers and all those who came before her. Being a teenager in the pandemic, confusion is an emotion that Yashvi vividly felt. What is of note even more however, is the fantastic and delicate way in which Yashvi navigates the mind and heart and finds words to write and inspire through the rite of passage that is her teenage years. Without an exact start and end to her creative process, Yashvi is an innate wordsmith who understands the origins of the art and how to craft.
In this collection of verse and lyric, you will find gentle and succinct insight into grand scale. About anything as intimate as the coming of age of a woman, to as cherished as a family. With the tenacity of her teenage years, Yashvi brings tenderness to the full human condition which is meant for readers of any age. In times of such pandemonium and in the complete chaos that we are going through, Yashvi's poetry is the exact reprieve that we all need to tune into.
As with depth and breadth, it takes great courage to speak up, pen down, and add to the repository in the canon of literature, as this young poet has so excellently done.
