Autorenporträt
Gerald Haynes, Jr. was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At the age of eight or nine the family moved to California. By the time I was fourteen I was handling Cocaine, Marijuana, and Guns. I was locked up six or seven times as a Juvenile. I did four years at California Youth Authority (C.Y.A.) and moved back to Baton Rouge. At the age of twenty one I was in jail a few times on Drug Charges. I ended up with an Attempted Murder Charge and was given life on a three strike law. After eight years that was given back and I received thirty-six years. I've done twenty-two years and I'm trying to give some of that back right now. I've learned that writing is something I enjoy. I know God works in mysterious ways, and I believe we are all blessed with a gift. I know if I wouldn't have come to prison, I would have never realized how much I love to write, which is my true calling.
