I offer The Uncrowned Queen Reclaims Her Throne -When a Black Woman Breaks the Silence as a tribute to my sistahs from the African Diaspora-those who cry silent tears while handling all that comes with being a Black woman existing in a racist society. Sistahs who veil their screams of pain within a Legacy of Silence. Those whose hearts break every time they see another mother's child killed. Women who feel the hot anger emanating from the secrets trapped deep within. The African American women who suffer the torment of feeling invisible or having their brilliance ignored. The ones who bleed within from the powerlessness they feel without. The sistahs who whisper in the darkness of night, "When is my time coming?" The Queen that feels her precious birthright was stolen from her and is desperately trying to find it. To the sistahs ready to replace that damn head rag with a crown.
As I have given voice to the various shades of my pain (ancestral, personal, and communal), I have been freed from the secrets and trauma holding me hostage. As you read my story of reclaiming all the parts of myself and my throne, my hope is you will gather the fragmented parts of your story and make them whole.
What to Expect
At the beginning of each chapter, a Queen is honored by a beloved descendant.
In Part I, The Legacy of Silence Unmasked, Silence is the Golden Rule; we will explore the inherited narratives that shape our personal stories. There, you will find stories from my ancestors that demonstrate the Legacy of Silence and how this pattern led to dysfunctional behavior and was passed down through the generations. This pattern of behavior is the broader view of what created the preconditions for my dethronement. I came by it, honestly.
In Part II, The False Narrative, The Queen is Dethroned, the psychology behind the Angry Black Woman myth is exposed. The significance of the strength, courage, and resilience our female ancestors displayed in battle and life is revealed. You'll also find stories from childhood and youth that shattered my innocence, tore me off my throne, silenced my voice, and strengthened my resolve.
In Part III, Rewriting Our Narrative, Claiming Our Throne, you will bear witness to my awakening and journey from being a scared, closed-down, in-the-closet drug addict to a powerful healing presence. You will see how God intervened in my world and created a perfect storm of circumstances that led to my transformation. Causing me to move from pain to purpose, feel pride instead of confusion, and live from possibility instead of past memories.
In Part IV, My True Narrative, The Queen Reigns, I reveal the miracles I experienced on my journeys. And how those extraordinary events empowered me to step fully into my purpose as a Spiritual Healer. With my transition into Ministry, I received a powerful revelation. The reign of the Original Queen is upon us. It is time for Sistahs from the African Diaspora to reclaim our power and be a catalyst for healing in the world.
At the end of most chapters and sections, you will find questions to help you connect with your narrative and begin the journey of reclaiming your throne.
Our story is the key that unlocks the door to personal insights. Behind this door, painful life experiences are hidden. I call these events "Defining Moments" because, in one moment, we can create a story that defines us for life.
At the end of the book, I reveal an even deeper understanding of how my stories influenced my thinking and life in the Defining Moments and Guiding Principles section.
The Uncrowned Queen is not only my story it is our story. It offers Sistahs the opportunity to stop and reflect on their power, resiliency and celebrate who they are and what they bring to this world. It is Truly a celebration of the African philosophy of "Ubuntu". I am because you are, and you are because I am.
