Sir Edward Bruce Hamley (1824-1893) was a British general and writer. He commanded artillery in the Crimean War and chronicled the conflict for Blackwood's Magazine. He also served Britain in the Ottoman Empire and Egypt. A Conservative member of Parliament, he wrote The Operations of War (1867), a classic military textbook.
