In "The Manumission Game," an ex-slave who's risen to be a mob boss determines to free all the slaves owned by his organization. But some of them are enslaved not just legally, but by magic; and breaking those spells can be risky for their owner.

Cameron Wilson, moving and starting at a new school, discovers there's a girl at the school with the same name as him. And there are too many parallels between their lives for that to be a coincidence.

Spies from another world explore ours in the borrowed bodies of college girls in "Scouts."

An empathy ritual gone wrong sheds unexpected light on an age-old philosophic question in "Wentworth and the Mind-Body Problem."

The human race suddenly diverges into thousands of new species in "Butterflies are the Gentlest" and "A House Divided."

In "Not Beyond Conjecture," Kadrim and his companions choose to jump overboard rather than join the pirates who've captured their ship... but drowning doesn't kill them, and their business with the pirates isn't finished.
