Autorenporträt
I published an autobiography in 2012, titled The Price of Silence. Now I wish to branch out, so I have chosen to write in the crime genre. I have also written twenty short stories, which I intend to publish free on Amazon as my next project. I was born in Edinburgh in 1957 and came from a family of five. When I left school at eighteen, I went to study history at Aberdeen University, graduating in 1979. Then I trained to be a social worker. I worked as a social worker in Aberdeen and also as an administration assistant at Standard Life Assurance Company in Edinburgh. I moved back to Edinburgh from Aberdeen in 1988. I lived in Aberdeen for fifteen years, but currently live in Stromness on the Orkney Islands. Recently, I retired from my position at Standard Life because I wanted to move to the islands to experience a different way of life. So I left Edinburgh in January of this year to live in Orkney, where the quality of life is outstanding. The landscape on the island has inspired writers and poets for centuries, and I am using this journey to help my writing. As I am now retired, in my spare time, I'm doing some volunteer work in the local community. My main hobbies apart from writing are reading, current affairs, cycling, travel, and swimming.
