Louisa Lawson, mother of iconic Australian poet and writer Henry Lawson, was also the mother of woman suffrage in New South Wales. Back in the 1800s when Louisa Lawson was a young woman, men scoffed at 'this nonsensical idea of giving women the vote'. Howver, for Louisa Lawson it was simply 'a just privilege so long denied'. She was a writer and newspaper editor as well as being the mother of four children. The Woman at the Back of the Room is a short story of just over 1500 words.
