Autorenporträt

Creator of one of the most popular books in children's literature, L. Frank Baum (18561919) wrote more than 55 novels under a variety of pseudonyms, in addition to poetry and plays. His prescient fantasies foretold such inventions as color television, laptop computers, and cordless phones.

W. W. Denslow (18561915) is famous as the original illustrator of L. Frank Baum's many stories from the land of Oz. Denslow recognized that his work appealed to a young audience and his aim was to make children's books filled with "good, clean, wholesome fun."
