The Investigations of the present volume do not intend to lay out a detailed roadway for educational transformation or a logical edifice of theory. Rather, they hope to question outmoded assumptions and stimulate creative exploration in CSCL theory, methodology and practice-providing examples of a different kind of theory. The ijCSCL papers and my own research reports are firmly grounded in analysis of empirical interaction data.
