Are you struggling to get pregnant? Do you feel alone because no-one understands what it's like dealing with infertility? Wouldn't it help you to read true stories from others who have had their own rollercoaster journey? Infertility sucks, and it takes over your thoughts every day and night. Nobody chooses to have infertility, and, if you have been dealt this hand, know that you are not alone. Sheila Lamb, and the amazing contributors in this book, have either had their own personal infertility struggle, or they support women and men who have. They all want to help by sharing their experience/advice so that you too can survive and rise above this testing time in your life. In This is Trying To Conceive, you'll read that:

  • Your feelings about infertility are perfectly normal
  • We all envy our pregnant BFF whilst being happy for them
  • It's OK, and healthy, to grieve that you're not holding your baby in your arms yet
  • It's so important to laugh and find humour in your life whilst trying to conceive and
  • We all find pregnancy announcements and baby showers difficult.

This is Trying To Conceive is required reading for:

  • Someone who's never struggled to have a baby but knows someone who is
  • Patient facing staff who have never experienced infertility
  • Practitioners who are supporting infertile men and women, and
  • Health care professionals who are caring for men and women who are pregnant after infertility.

If you're one of the above, now you'll understand how brutal infertility is and will steer clear of inadvertently saying something insensitive. You'll also learn that infertility doesn't go away even if someone is having fertility treatment, is now pregnant, or is pregnant after infertility or loss; please validate their feelings. The TTC community is here for you, offering love, support and understanding on every page. You are not alone.

Autorenporträt
Sheila Lamb had a six-year infertility journey that involved a diagnosis of unexplained infertility, two unsuccessful fertility treatment cycles, an early pregnancy loss after a donor egg cycle, investigations into natural killer cells and thrombophilia, and a successful second donor egg cycle. Her rainbow baby was born in 2011, a week after her forty-seventh birthday. This life-changing experience has led her to support the trying to conceive (TTC) and baby loss communities, by publishing her Fertility Books series - a collection of true-life short stories, straight from the heart about the emotional realities of infertility, IVF, the two-week wait, and loss, from women and men passionate about offering their support. #youarenotaloneWhen not writing book or supporting the TTC community, Sheila enjoys reading (of course!), spending time with her daughter, meeting friends and going for walks.
