Z A Bukhari is Pakistani and now lives in Saudi Arabia with her husband Syed Adeel Hassan Shah. Her father Syed Wasim Ahmed Bukhari was also a lawyer and writer. She wrote and directed advocacy plays for nongovernmental organizations. She is also a teacher and photographer.
