Billy Butler is having problems. The most egregious problem is the troubling nightmares that take hold of his mind, both awake and asleep. Even worse, the dreams seem to be following a pattern in which he croaks at the end of each and every one. There is a message hidden within each dream but Billy is unable to discern what that meaning is. The only thing that is clear is that they look as if to be coming from Smith; the bully extraordinaire who attempted to take Billy's life sometime ago. The attempt failed and Smith landed himself in a cozy little prison cell, and yet there is evidence that he is somehow manipulating the nightmares. Another difficulty is the fact that their house and subsequent apartments are being ransacked and pretty much totally destroyed by an unknown hooligan. And then there's Abraham, who is greatly affected by these home invasions and slips into a depression that threatens their future together. Mirna, Billy's sister, and her new husband Wei Chen are having to play host to her brother and Abraham eveytime they lose a place of their own. And then there's Lyle, the cop; yet another wrench being thrown into the working gears of Billy and Abraham's relationship, although without intending to cause any problems.
