Autorenporträt
Terri Lyne Carrington is a three-time Grammy Award-winning drummer, composer, producer, and founder of the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. As part of her illustrious career, she performed in the ACS trio with Geri Allen and Esperanza Spalding, the real-life ensemble that inspired this book. She has published writings in multiple publications such as Jazz and Culture (Pittsburgh University), Chamber Music Magazine, and the Library of Congress Blog, in addition to writing liner notes and song lyrics for critically acclaimed recordings. She has received honorary doctorate degrees from Manhattan School of Music, Berklee College of Music and York University, and serves as the artistic director for the Carr Center (Detroit) and the Next Jazz Legacy program (New Music USA, Mellon Foundation). In 2020, she was named a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts, and inducted into the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2021.
