Produktbeschreibung
Thru the First Disciple's Eyes is a groundbreaking exploration of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ from the perspective of his true first disciple, Mary, the mother of Jesus. This book challenges traditional views of Mary as a passive figure in the story of Jesus, and instead presents Her as an active participant in His ministry, a powerful spiritual leader, and a woman of great courage, wisdom and strength. Drawing on a range of historical and literary sources, as well as theological reflection and personal insight, this book offers a fresh and compelling perspective on the life and teachings of Jesus, and on the spiritual journey of all those who seek to follow him. Beginning with the first chapter, "The Invitation," focuses on Mary's remarkable encounter with the angel Gabriel, traditionally referred to as Mary's Annunciation, her acceptance of God's call to be the mother of Jesus, which truly was an invitation. Her acceptance of the invitation Gabriel delivered was not a given. A sudden pregnancy was something that could have turned disastrous for Mary, but she demonstrated true faith and courage in God's Plan and said yes. Our journey with Mary through the highlights of her son's life to Bethlehem, to Egypt, back to Nazareth, to the Jordan River, and several other locations, and finally to Jerusalem to complete His mission. Through Mary's eyes, we gain a new appreciation for the profound spiritual significance of the Incarnation, and for the deep faith and courage required to say "yes" to God's call. Through Mary's eyes, we see Jesus as a teacher & healer, and we witness the powerful impact he had on those around him. Mary emerges as a key figure in this story, offering her own insights and wisdom, and helping to shape the message of Jesus for generations to come. Throughout "Thru the First Disciple's Eyes", Mary emerges as a deeply spiritual figure, a woman of great faith and wisdom, and a true disciple of Jesus. By presenting the life and teachings of Jesus from her perspective, this book offers a powerful and transformative vision of Christianity, one that invites us all to see the world through the eyes of the first disciple, and maybe accept the role of discipleship ourselves.

Autorenporträt
John is a cradle Catholic, the middle child of five, who grew up in upstate New York. Vatican Two saved him from learning Latin the year he trained to be an Altar Server. He attended Catholic School until High School when he transitioned to public school. He received two associates degrees from the local Community College, then started a job in a fortune 500 company as a draftsman. He had met the woman of his dreams and they had the first of their children 9 months after they were married. Six months later, the three headed off to the State University of New York at Buffalo where John studied Mechanical Engineering. By the time John graduated with his BS in Mechanical Engineering, they had their second son and headed back to his hometown to continue his 40 year career and have a third son and finally his daughter. He and his wife now have a son in law, a daughter in law and six beautiful grandchildren. Several events led him to deepen his faith joining a Catholic Men's Bible Study; attending several Catholic Men's Conferences; attending a Catholic Men's Emmaus Retreat as well as being on several Emmaus Retreat Teams (including giving witness talks); attending daily Mass; Praying the Holy Rosary daily and being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Church and Nursing Homes in the area. His engineering job brought him across the USA as well as Mexico, Europe and Asia where he enjoyed creating his own personal Pilgrimages to Holy Sites and sharing the experiences and pictures with family and friends. His retirement ambitions include enjoying his children and grandchildren, continued travel to holy sites around the world and sharing his Catholic faith wherever he can.
