We pray, "The Kingdom Come," every Sunday, but do we really know what we are praying for?

The vision that many Christian hold of the kingdom-that it is heaven, the perfect place where we go after we die, if we've been very, very good-limits what we can do and how we can be with God. Subscribing to that view makes us into rule followers. Is that what Jesus was asking of us? Or is He really talking about a deep relationship with God?

This exploration of Jesus' teachings about the kingdom was written by Patricia Said Adams who has been a spiritual director for fifteen years and a blogger about living a life grounded in the Gospels for eight. Patricia is a widow with three adult children and five grandchildren who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Autorenporträt
Patricia Said Adams is a spiritual director, a supervisor of spiritual directors, a blogger about life lived in Christ, and the author of two other books, Thy Kingdom Come! and Exodus: Our Story, Too!: From Slavery to the World to the Kingdom of God. She writes through the lens of a spiritual director: How do I, how do we, live this life we are called to? While not a theologian, Adams feels that beliefs are only the entry point to a Christian life, that the life really begins when we begin to hear and obey God's "still, small voice" (1 Kings 19:12 KJV). If we follow the soft murmurings of the Indwelling Spirit of God into our own deeper selves, we will find our purpose and the fulfillment of our created nature in serving Him and others.Adams is a widow with three grown children and their spouses and eight grandchildren, who are all the delight of her life. She lives in Matthews, North Carolina. You can read more at patsaidadams. com and deepeningyourfaith.com.
