Once again William Dexter must set aside his somewhat self-destructive hedonistic life and with a close-knit collection of comrades, tangle with unseen dark forces threatening the very fabric of his country and its place in the world.

Russia had much to gain from any weakening of the British Empire and the Great Game had played out on the North West Frontier and beyond for many years. With Prussia and Germany forming the "German Empire" at the heart of Europe the stakes could not be higher as clandestine plans for domination and military expansion began to coalesce. The scheming nations were blissfully unaware of the danger they were in, the shadows concealed another force, one that did not play by the rules of the game that had preserved a kind of world peace for decades. No longer would there be any lines that should not be crossed.

If the world's great military powers could be fooled into a catastrophic conflict, from the ashes of the scorched earth that would result, an unexpectedly ruthless force may emerge to sweep away the old order and bring its own ways of control to the countries of Europe and beyond. The power of monarchy and state control may find itself consigned to the past in a world controlled by the absolute control by a few men of economy, resources and finance.

William Dexter must journey to the untamed fringes of the British Empire to bring one man half way across the world, a man who unwittingly holds the key to controlling the resurgent Germany. Soon though William questions if Germany are really the unseen enemy, what of Russia who are marshalling their forces for their own gains?

The endless struggle for global advantage, land and resources suddenly takes a more sinister turn and an attack striking at the very heart of the British Monarchy plunges William and his small group of agents into a race against time to save just one life that if lost could launch the world on a course that will cost the lives of millions!
