Dr. Frederick Douglas Harper has authored both scholarly and creative writings about human improvement and human survival as a species. Harper retired as professor of counseling in 2012 after 42 years at Howard University. He has authored 16 poetry books, one major novel (The Durabone Prophecies), college textbooks, and numerous articles. Harper has served as Editor-in-Chief of three scholarly journals. He has presented speeches and conference papers throughout the United States and in Argentina, France, Greece, India, Ireland, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Since 1985, Harper has published more than 1,000 poems. His poetry is educational, therapeutic, didactic, and inspirational. A devoted jogger, Harper has run more than 43,000 miles. He is the proud father of two sons and the proud grandfather of four grandchildren.
