A 2016 RT Reviewers' Choice Award Nominee
I don't deserve a second chance, so what am I supposed to do with the one I've been given?
I'm a different person now. But no one knows except the two most important people in my life. A drummer and a poet, a.k.a. my two best friends and the only reason I might have a chance at pulling off this comeback.
I thought I was ready. For the spotlight. For the music. For the reality that who I was could unravel the very fabric of who I am now.
Then again, that's before fellow rocker Holland Drake crashes into my life on our joint tour.
I didn't ask for her. Heaven knows she didn't ask for me and an attraction we can't escape.
I don't blame her or her bandmates for being wary of me. My past mistakes will always follow me, no matter how much I pay for my sins. What I didn't expect was to want someone again, and now I'm falling hard for a person I could never deserve, even though there are signs she might want me to.
But sometimes it's not about what makes sense. It's believing even the worst past can still have a future.
Most of all, it's forcing yourself to confront a blessing that often feels like a curse:
You're still alive.
You're still significant.
You're once again Luke Craven, lead singer of Night Shifts Black.
Please note that this book addresses depression, anxiety, and suicide in a compassionate, realistic manner. For a full list of content notices please visit my website. Tracing Holland is the emotional second half to Luke's story in Night Shifts Black.
