Paul Cerrato, M.A., is a senior research analyst and communication specialist with Mayo Clinic Platform, a technology initiative comprised of solution developers, data partners and healthcare service providers, focused on finding digital solutions to many of the stubborn problems facing health care. In 2023, Mayo Clinic Platform tools and solutions reached 45 million people. Cerrato also is a professor at Northeastern University D-Amore-McKim School of Business, where he teaches data mining and machine learning. Cerrato has served as editor of Information Week Healthcare, executive editor of Contemporary OB/GYN, and senior editor of RN Magazine. He has been widely published in peer-reviewed medical literature and has written 6 books on digital health. Cerrato has also been named one of most influential bloggers by The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, known as HIMSS. He was recently inducted into Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society, whose past inductees include Albert Einstein, Linus Pauling and 200+ Nobel prize winners. John D. Halamka, M.D., M.S., is president of the Mayo Clinic Platform. Trained in emergency medicine and medical informatics, Dr. Halamka has been involved in healthcare information strategy and policy for more than 40 years. Prior to his appointment at Mayo Clinic, he was chief information officer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he served governments, academia and industry worldwide. As the International Healthcare Innovation Professor at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Halamka helped the George W. Bush administration, the Obama administration and governments worldwide plan their healthcare information strategies. A graduate of Stanford University, Dr. Halamka earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco. He also pursued graduate work in bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Halamka completed his residency in emergency medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He continues to practice emergency medicine, while also serving as a professor of emergency medicine and the Michael D. Brennan, M.D., President's Strategic Initiative Professor at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Halamka has written 15 books and numerous articles and in 2020 was elected to the National Academy of Medicine. He and his wife run Unity Farm Sanctuary in Sherborn, Mass., dedicated to the lifetime care of ill, disabled, senior, orphaned and surrendered farm animals.
