Autorenporträt
Hannah Lewis RN, BHSA, MPH, is a retired school nurse in Miami Dade County, Florida, and who resides in Broward County. She utilized poetry and prose to teach health on campus. She was a recipient of CITI Success Education Fund Grant FY 2007-2008 for her play "Sally Gum in the Park" promoting dental health campus wide. Her poem "Weapon for Mass Destruction" is published in Healthy Stories Americas Public Health Literary Journal 2010. Her poems "Fly High," a tribute to Amelia Earhart (National Poetry Month 2012); "Time to Rest," interpreting the Hobo code (National Poetry Month 2013); and "Blue Glass," looking at sea glass ( National Poetry Month 2014) are among works of area poets in projects of poet in residence Anastasia Clark in Broward County, Florida. Each year the collective works were displayed at select libraries and museums in the state of Florida and the USA. Each project is partly funded by Broward County Commissioners as recommended by Broward Cultural Council and partly by the National Endowment of the Arts. She reads poetry with other writers monthly at South Broward Regional College Library and was awarded third prize for her poem "The Web" submitted for South Broward Regional College Poetry Slam Contest 2014 Hannah composes songs. Her deep religious faith is reflected in some of her earlier works. In 2001 she produced "Perk the Spirit," a compilation of religious poetry with original music acapella style, background song "Jordan River," which has touched the hearts of many. Hannah loves to write. She also volunteers for the blind and at a local food bank.
