This is a daily log of Twinkle Toes (and later joined by Artsy) as he hiked the Appalachian Trail. Starting in Georgia in 1991, he did not complete his hike until the year 2002. There were many times when he considered his hike to be over, but something, or some event, kept bringing him back to the trail to complete it. There were many days that would be considered as dull and uninteresting to read, but others were anything but dull to the hiker. This log is for the reader to enjoy and to possibly whet your appetite to do a bit of serious hiking yourself.

Twinkle Toes is the trail name for David S. Swan, Jr., a retired CPA who had wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail since he was a teenager. In his early years, there just never seemed to be the time to do any part of it. Only later in life did he make the time. After marrying Artsy, he found that she had interest in hiking so that, collectively, they found the time to hike together. Then, their combined interest and companionship gave more meaning and enjoyment to their outdoors trips and camping experiences.
