Tessa d told her if her story with a high moral sense, and with a critical look, she moved away from any favoritism, and dared to constrains: to see your enemy from another angle, other than the angle that all channels sought to impose on those who want to look at the past. The issuance of the novel sparked violent reactions among the auditors and critics in her country, and some accused her of betraying her homeland, when she allowed the German - the enemy that occupied the Netherlands, humiliated its people, and the Jews - a space to hear his voice and suffering, and appear as a victim of Nazism as well.
