Sibylle Luig studierte Kunstgeschichte und Germanistik in Köln, Florenz und London. Nach Jahren als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin, Übersetzerin von kunsthistorischen Texten und Programmleiterin bei einem deutschen Kunstbuchverlag machte sie sich selbständig und widmet sich seit Herbst 2016 eigenen Buchprojekten. Sie lebt mit ihrer Familie in Berlin. Die Geschichte der zauberhaften Zwillinge Elli und Idi hat sie zunächst für ihre magiebegeisterten Töchter geschrieben.
